Hey Guys, I’m back from my trip to New York City. Sorry for the silence here on the blog. But I uploaded my first NYC vlog on my Youtube channel – so if you are curious what we did the first three days, you should really check that one out and the next one will be online tomorrow. Stay tuned for that. Anyways for today I want to share with you guys my New York City travel Guide.
First of all I just want to say that I really enjoyed my time in NYC it was a dream that came true. Chantal is the best travel partner you could wish for. We took some beautiful pictures – which you’ll see later on in this blogpost. So let’s start the travel guid.
When you finally know that you are going to the city that never sleeps. You have to find out where to stay. You can choose a hotel but also a Airbnb. We decided to book everything at Tui.nl (not sponsored) so flight and hotel in once. We really want to fly to JFK and take a cab to our hotel from the airport. Anyways after doing some research we wanted to stay in the middle of Manhattan, so we were close to Times Square, Central Park etcetera.
We stayed at the beautiful hotel Riu Plaza Hotel Times Square. The service was really perfect, rooms were big enough for the two of us, bathroom with a good shower (everyday warm water) enough space for your clothing and luggage. And every single morning a fresh breakfast to give you a perfect start of the day.
There are so many things to do in that lovely city. Of course you can visit all the highlights or spend some time in Central Park and relax at the Highline or visit a musical. Also you can buy online a NY pass – which allows you to visit all the highlights. We decided to do it on our own. Everything went perfect but only the ferry was a disaster. I thought it was for free – but that is the ferry if you work in Brooklyn for example and you live in Manhattan. In the end we had to pay for some tickets, and we didn’t get any information on which time the boat will arrive. In the end it was really perfect and we shot some beautiful pictures. But with the NY Pass the ferry is included.
Also I really enjoyed being in Brooklyn and Soho. The next time when I’m visiting New York, I really want to spent some time there and see other things of this city.
TOP OF THE ROCK AND EMPIRE STATE BUILDING:
We decided to visit Top Of the Rock in the morning. Around 10 o’clock we picked up our tickets and within 20 minutes you are in elevator to the 67th floor. It was crowded but if you go to the 69th floor you can take some awesome pictures and on the 70th there’s no glass or metal enclosures. The view was really breathtaking.
Cause we really want to see New York when it’s dark outside, we decided to do The Empire State Building in the evening. This time it was really crowded. But we managed to take some good pictures on the 86th floor (main deck). Also you can choose to go to the 102nd floor. We paid for that – but to be honest the view is almost the same and you are behind glass. But still the view was so beautiful at night, with all these lights.
OH MY GOD there are so many places where you can sit down and order a burger with fries. Thank god we walked almost everyday around 12 kilometres. But in this blogpost I want to highlight two of my favorite places where you can eat really good and heathy if you want.
Sugar Factory – 1991 Broadway
This is such a cute place, which we discovered two weeks before we went to NYC. I saw a video of glitter donuts and we really wanted to try it. When we arrived we noticed that you also can grab some lunch. In the end we ordered WAY to much but it was really good. How cool are these coloured hamburgers. If you check out my vlog (which will be online tomorrow) you can see the glitter donut as well.
Nomo Soho – 9 Crosby Street
I saw restaurant last year in a vlog and I was immediately obsessed. This hotel is located in Soho and it’s amazing. I ordered a Kale salad. Which I am never gonna order again. Cause I really don’t like raw kale, I thought let’s get healthy. Chantal laughed so hard. So next time I’m gonna order something else. I would recommend to make a reservation.
Some other places that you can visit during your stay in New York City is Shake Shack. They have really good burgers, and if you like cheese order some cheesy fries. Loved it. We also grabbed a pizza in Brooklyn at Front Street Pizza, just very local but very relaxed. And if you like pasta go to Joanne Trattoria – the owner is the father from Lady Gaga. I had the family recipe pasta.
Before you go to New York City you have to send a request for a Esta. Once you have the conformation that your Esta is good, take a copy with you in your carry-on luggage. Because if something is wrong (which was with mine – they made a mistake with a zero and the letter “O”), you can show your copy. Also make a schedule from day to day. The city is so big that you can forget what you really wanted to see. For example you want to climb Top of The Rock and then check what’s in the neighbourhood that you also would like to see, so maybe you can walk to Grand Central Station and maybe there’s a store that you would like to visit around the corner. And do that for every single day. It’s a lot easier.
As you can see we had a great time and I hope you liked this post and enjoyed some of my pictures. Have you ever been to New York City?
Till next time,
